The Parisians are ready!

News

The Paris Saint-Germain women’s team racked up a 14-0 win against Issy this Saturday November 14 at the CNF in Clairefontaine, on Matchday 8 of the First Division.

We were a week away from the game against Lyon, and after seeing the league leaders beat Soyaux 5-1 the Parisians knew what was required as they started their preparations for the upcoming big game. The match against ninth-placed Issy took place at the famous Stade Pierre Pibarot in Clairefontaine, home to both of the French national teams. Coach Olivier Echouafni picked an attack-minded starting eleven for this Ile-de-France derby.

The attacking formation proved to be the right call, as a few minutes into the game Kadidatou Diani combined with Marie-Antoinette Katoto before wrongfooting keeper Solène Froger (0-1, 5’). Just a few moments later Diani turned provider as she whipped in a cross from the right to find Katoto, who headed the ball into the back of the net (0-2, 7’). Two minutes later, same again. Diani went past her defender on the right hand side and crossed in for the Rouge et Bleu number 9 to bag her second (0-3, 9’). What a start it was!

Issy then managed to survive for a quarter of an hour before being overwhelmed by constant Parisian attacks. Diani was unplayable on the right hand side and crossed for Nadia Nadim, who volleyed home to increase the lead (0-4, 24’). Thirty minutes into the game Froger punched a Rouge et Bleu corner straight to Formiga. She then played Ashley Lawrence in. From twenty metres out the Canadian curled a shot into the top corner (0-5, 30’). Katoto then notched her second assist of the game by knocking the ball in for Nadim to volley in her second goal of the game at the front post. (0-6, 40’). Just before the break Denmark international Nadim picked the ball up near the halfway line and found Diani. The winger saw Froger off her line and hit an enormous 50-metre lob to beat the Issy keeper (0-7, 44’)!

In the second half Olivier Echouafni’s players didn’t slow down one bit. Nadim intercepted the ball inside the Owls’ half before rounding Froger and scoring (0-8, 48’). The Rouge et Bleu number 10 didn’t stop there though, as she was played in by Formiga and scored with a fine chip shot (0-9, 64’). Her fifth of the game came after an assist from Signe Bruun (0-10, 68’). Then her sixth duly arrived courtesy of a Ramona Bachmann assist (0-11, 74’). These two last providers then turned goalscorers. The Dane Bruun got on the end of a Laurina Fazer cross (0-12, 84’) and Swiss player Bachmann scored after a pass from Paulina Dudek (0-13, 85’). And who else to round off the scoring but Nadim? The striker received another assist from Fazer and beat Froger to score her seventh goal of the game (0-14, 90’).

Off the back of six consecutive victories against Reims (4-0), Dijon (3-0), Montpellier (4-0), Soyaux (3-0), Fleury (4-0) and, of course, Issy, Olivier Echouafni’s players have now also registered their seventh clean sheet in a row. The team is now just two points behind Lyon (24 points) in the League table. This was an ideal performance going into the top-of-the-table clash between the two sides on Matchday 9, this Friday November 20 at 21:00 at the Parc des Princes.
