News

Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce that Irene Paredes has signed a two-year contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain. The 27-year-old central defender is now tied to the capital club until 30 June 2021.

Since signing for Paris Saint-Germain in 2016, the Spain international (50 caps, 7 goals) has made 70 appearances in Rouge et Bleu, including the Champions League final in 2017 and the victorious Coupe de France in 2018, and is a key member of the Paris squad.

Named 2018 Spanish Player of the Year by daily sports paper Marca, the captain of La Roja will take part in her second FIFA Women's World Cup in France this summer, after Canada in 2015.

"I'm very happy to be continuing the adventure with Paris Saint-Germain," declared Irene Paredes after signing her contract. "I have been here three seasons now and I want to win more trophies with this club. I try to improve each year and help the whole team progress, and win the three competitions we are entered in: the Champions League, the Women's Division 1 and the Coupe de France."

"We are delighted to be able to continue to draw on Irene's qualities for the coming seasons," said Women's Section General Manager Bruno Cheyrou. "Irene is one of the leaders of this team and we need her experience for Paris Saint-Germain's upcoming challenges, both national and international."
