The women's team recorded a 3-0 win over Soyaux on Sunday to remain in close contact at the top of the league table.
Coming off the back of three impressive victories in a row against Reims (4-0), Dijon (3-0) and Montpellier (4-0), the Parisians knew what was needed as they faced Soyaux before the players joined up with their respective national teams for international games.
With Lyon beating Guingamp (4-0) and Montpellier triumphing over Reims (1-0) the day before, the objective was clear – a win and three more points in the race for European qualification spots. With that in mind, Olivier Echouafni picked an attack-minded starting eleven for the game at the Stade Lebon in Angoulême.

Despite starting with four strikers the Rouge et Bleu struggled to break the deadlock in the first half. They had opportunities but Jordyn Huitema (6’), Signe Bruun (29’) and Sara Däbritz (33’) all failed to find an end product, while Grace Geyoro (24’) and Marie-Antoinette Katoto (41’) were denied by goalkeeper Romane Munich. After the break, though, the pressure started to mount on the Soyaux goal.
Huitema played the ball out wide to Ashley Lawrence and her cross to the back post was headed home by Bruun (0-1, 55’). The Parisians were on a roll and just five minutes later Sandy Baltimore found Huitema, who played the ball on to Geyoro. After a lucky rebound the France international put the ball past Munich (0-2, 60’). Then following a scramble in the Soyaux six-yard box, it was Huitema who came away with the ball and hit the back of the net to close the game out (0-3, 80’).
So it’s a fourth win and a fifth clean sheet on the bounce for Paris Saint-Germain as they consolidate second place, two points behind league leaders Olympique Lyonnais and three ahead of Montpellier. The next game for the club from the capital will be on Matchday 7 against Fleury, on Sunday November 1 at 12:45 pm (CET) at the Stade Georges Lefèvre in Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
