France's Women's team - featuring Parisians Sakina Karchaoui, Grace Geyoro, Sandy Baltimore, Kadidiatou Diani and Marie-Antoinette Katoto - defeated Italy 5-1 on Sunday 10 July at the New York Stadium in Rotherham, England, on the first day of the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 England group stage.
With the exception of Sandy Baltimore, who came on at the end of the match, all the Parisians were in the French starting line-up. Sakina Karchaoui, who set up Les Bleues' second goal, provided an assist for the third. Meanwhile Marie-Antoinette Katoto scored that second goal for Corinne Diacre's side, before setting up Grace Geyoro for the fourth. The latter, who had already scored the opening goal after Kadidiatou Diani's run, completed her hat-trick - her first for France, scored on the occasion of her 50th cap - just before half-time. She even became the first player in history to score a hat-trick in the first half of a Euro - a performance that saw her voted best player of the match, becoming the second Parisian to receive this distinction since the beginning of the competition - after Switzerland's Ramona Bachmann.
