The curtain lifts today on the World Cup in France! Here's the lowdown on everything you need to know before kick-off!
Where will the games take place?
This year’s competition takes place in France across nine cities: Paris, Reims, Rennes, Montpellier, Valenciennes, Le Harve, Nice, Grenoble and Lyon where the World Cup final will take place.
Who are the favorites?
The world’s #1 ranked team USA will start this summer’s games as favorites, but the Americans suffered a 1-3 loss in January to France who will also be tipped for success. Two other sides to look out for will be Germany and European Champions Holland.
Who are the current holders?
The USA are the current holders of the World Cup trophy having won the 2015 tournament in Canada. Check out the top 10 goals from the previous tournament here:
Players to look out for:
The tournament will showcase some of the greatest players in the game. Just some of the names tipped to light up the world stage are Alex Morgan (USA), Erin Cuthbert (Scotland), Marta (Brazil) and Sam Kerr (Australia). Keep an eye out!

France vs Korea Republic, June 7th at 21:00 CET at the Parc des Princes, Paris
The opening game of the women’s World Cup kicks off with three of our players taking part in the French squad including Grace Geyoro, Ève Périsset and the top assister in the Division 1 Féminine this past season, Kadidiatou Diani.
Germany vs China, June 8th at 15:00 CET at Roazhon Park, Rennes
The following day, two Paris Saint-Germain players face off against each other, Asia’s Women’s Footballer of the Year last year, Wang Shuang for China and our new signing Sara Däbritz for Germany.
Spain vs South Africa, June 8th at 18:00 CET at the Stade Océane, Le Havre
Later that day PSG’s Irene Paredes, who recently extended her Rouge et Bleu contract until 2021, will face off against South Africa.
Brazil vs Jamaica, June 9th at 15:30 CET at the Stade des Alpes, Grenoble
The highest capped player in Brazilian history and legend of the game, Formiga, will face off against Jamaica.
Canada vs Cameroon, June 10th at 21:00 CET at the Stade de la Mosson, Montpellier
Two of our players in Ashley Lawrence and new signing Jordyn Huitema will face off against Cameroon for Canada.
Chile vs Sweden, June 11th at 18:00 CET at Roazhon Park, Rennes
Two Paris Saint-Germain players will face off against each other as Chile’s Christiane Endler play Sweden’s Hanna Glas.
Germany vs Spain, June 12th at 18:00 CET at the Stade du Hainaut, Valenciennes
The Parisians' Irene Paredes from Spain will face our new signing from Bayern Munich, Sara Däbritz, from Germany in their second group phase game.
France vs Norway, June 12th at 21:00 CET at the Stade de Nice, Nice
The home nation plays its second group phase game as Paris Saint-Germain’s Grace Geyoro, Ève Périsset and Kadidiatou Diani face off against Norway.
Australia vs Brazil, June 13th at 18:00 CET at the Stade de la Mosson, Montpellier
Paris Saint-Germain captain, Formiga will face off against Australia in her second match of the World Cup.
