Echouafni: 'We can do better'

News

Paris Saint-Germain take on Sankt Pölten in the return leg of their round of 32 UEFA Women’s Champions League clash defending a 4-1 advantage from the first leg, but coach Olivier Echouafni says his side can still perform better.

Olivier, Thursday's match against Sankt Pölten marks the return of the Women’s Champions League to Paris, and it's a competition that the fans and players love...
"The Champions League is always special. We play against the best sides in Europe, who are all national champions or finished second. We are very happy that Paris is back in this competition and we want to go as far as possible because we know we have the potential. It's start on Thursday with a return match against Sankt Pölten that won't be as easy as all that."

How are you approaching this match after five wins from five so far this term?
"I told the girls before the Montpellier game that the best way to prepare for the Champions League was to play well in the league, which we did with a 3-0 win and some really good football. We also played well against Sankt Pölten in the first leg, but we also know that they are capable of much, much better. We have to be fully focused and on top of our game."

How are the summer signings settling in, including the latest adition Hanna Glas?
"They are settling in well. It will still take a few more weeks to feel at 100%, but overall, the atmosphere in the squad is very good. As for Hanna, we have been following her for a while with the aim of having two players for every position. She is a Sweden international who will bring her experience to the squad. She has already begun French lessons and that shows that she is keen to settle quickly. She can also play several positions and is an athletic, powerful player. Unfortunately she isn't qualified for Thursday, but she will be available on Sunday."
