Host nation France defeated Norway 2-1 on Matchday 2 of the FIFA Women's World Cup to stay top of Group A with back to back victories.

After a scoreless first half, Valerie Gauvin opened the scoring inside a minute of the restart (1-0, 46'), before Wendy Renard's own goal drew Norway level (1-1, 54'). Eugenie Le Sommer netted the winner from the penalty spot with 18 minutes left to play (2-1, 72').

Top of the section and the only side with a maximum six points, Corinne Diacre's team are in pole position to go through to the last-16. Paris Saint-Germain's Kadidiatou Diani played the entire 90 minutes.
