Iconic moments from the Paris Saint-Germain and Nike partnership

The relationship between the Rouge et Bleu and Nike that has grown over three decades is more than just a partnership. Nike has been there for a critical part of the club's development, becoming a valued part of Paris Saint-Germain and of our identity. Here, we take a look back to some of the pivotal moments over the last thirty years, in which we wore 71 different Nike jerseys, played 1,542 matches, scored 2,588 goals and won 35 trophies.

To begin with, we take a look at the historic title winning moments since our partnership began.

Titles

The first trophy won by Paris Saint-Germain in the Nike strip was the Ligue 1 in the 1993/94 season, where Ricardo Gomes sealed the title with a 72ndminute winner on the 36thmatch day.

A few seasons later, Paris Saint-Germain won their first major European title in Brussels, beating Rapid Wien 1-0 through a 29th minute winner from Bruno N’Gotty.

As we flash forward some years, to the first major trophy we won under the new ownership, the Qatar Sports Investments, and the new Paris Saint-Germain president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi. The Rouge et Bleu won the Ligue 1 in the 2012/13 season, becoming the champions of France for the first time in nearly 20 years. This was the start of a major transformation that saw Paris Saint-Germain become a major force in European football.

Icons

The Parisians have counted amongst them a number of iconic players that played through the enduring relationship with American brand. In January of 2001, Paris Saint-Germain signed 20-year-old Brazilian prodigy from Grêmio named Ronaldinho. He would become one of the all-time great players of the beautiful game, wearing the famous tick throughout his career as he gave nightmares to defenders and goalkeepers in France and beyond!

Then came the major transformation under the new ownership, with two major signings coming from A.C. Milan in Thiago Silva and Zlatan IbrahimovićSilva is still captain of the club today and has made 280 appearances placing himself amongst the very best in Paris Saint-Germain history.

Then, in the same transfer window, from the same club, came Zlatan Ibrahimović. The Swede scored 156 goals in 180 appearances for the club, becoming one of the greatest players to have worn the red and blue. They both played an instrumental role in the transformation of the club under the new ownership.

Looking to the present, Kylian Mbappé is a young star who has taken the world by storm, already winning the World Cup and the Ligue 1 three years in a row. He has a close connection with Nike, as a powerful symbol that anything is possible at the age of just 20. He epitomizes the slogan, “Just Do It,” as a player who has full belief in his abilities, and has excited fans right from his very first professional game.

PSG x Jordan

Nike and Paris Saint-Germain have changed the game not just on the pitch, but off it too. In September of last year football and fashion came together like never before. The iconic Jordan brand partnered with the club to create an exclusive collection that epitomized the innovation that both brands are renowned for. The Rouge et Bleu wore Jordan collection both on and off the pitch and proved that nowhere can match the level of innovation in the fashion world like the French capital.

Just four days ago, Paris Saint-Germain showed the continued partnership and innovation with Jordan, with its second apparel collection to show the vibrancy and personality of Paris and the club's fans all over the world.

The announcement of the extension of the Nike partnership shows the ambition of both parties to create iconic moments and change the game forever.
