Vincent Gérard: 'We left them no hope'

On Thursday evening, Paris Saint-Germain Handball punched their ticket to the Coupe de la Ligue Final4 with victory over Montpellier (34-30). Raul Gonzalez, Vincent Gérard and Kim Ekdahl du Rietz gave us their thoughts on the dominant win.

Raul Gonzalez (Paris Saint-Germain Handball coach):
"It was difficult to play against Montpellier after our defeat against Barcelona (32-35). We played well throughout the game, despite the fatigue of the last 15 minutes. We'll concentrate on the Final4 later. Now we need to rest to prepare our Coupe de France match against Pontault-Combault on Sunday."

Kim Ekdahl from Rietz (Paris Saint-Germain Handball left-back):
"We got into our game well and we managed the lead with skill. It was a rather strange encounter, divided into several periods... But we won and that's the main thing! Today, we did our job well and I hope we will win this cup!"

Vincent Gérard (Paris Saint-Germain Handball 'keeper):
"We went into steamroller mode... Changing to +7 just before half-time was a very good idea. We also made a good start to the second half, so as not to give them any hope. So we're satisfied. We were on top for most of it but still there were a few moments when we weren't quite that good. When you lead a match for a while like that, it's hard to stay focused. And Montpellier are a good team, who fought to the end. Our club's goal is to win all the domestic titles and we are happy to have eliminated a direct competitor for this trophy."
