Uwe Gensheimer: 'We have to believe!'

News

After the defeat in Poland (34-24), Jota Gonzalez, Uwe Gensheimer and Luka Karabatic gave their thoughts on the match.

Jota Gonzalez (Paris Saint-Germain Handball assistant coach):

"It's hard to find words... This is our biggest disappointment all season long. Up to now, we had been really good and we knew that this was a hugely important match for the club. There was no sector of our game that was satisfying tonight... We know that looking to make up a ten-goal deficit will be very difficult. But we will make every possible effort to get a result that takes us to the Final4."

Uwe Gensheimer (Paris Saint-Germain Handball left-winger):

"At the beginning of the match, I think we played very well, but after that we missed several fairly clear-cut chances and we started to maybe doubt ourselves. That allowed Kielce to grow in confidence and steadily pull clear. But it's true that in attack we lacked fluidity and precision.
Obviously we're disappointed, but we have to believe! If there is any side in the world that is capable of coming back after a first leg like this one, it is most definitely ours."

Luka Karabatic (Paris Saint-Germain Handball pivot)

"It was a very complicated match in a very hostile environment. We knew we wouldn't have anyone on our side tonight, and when you couple that with our our sub-par performance, you have the explanation for this heavy loss.
Still, we hit back well in the second half, and we might have been able to narrow the gap but we rushed things and they took full advantage and ran away with it at the end. We're in a pretty bad position at the half-way point of this tie. We have one week to make sure we show a different side of ourselves at home and give our fans at Coubertin a real show. But we already know it will be very difficult."
