After a long battle, Paris Saint-Germain Handball got the better of Flensburg (32-30) in their Velux EHF Champions League Round 8 clash at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin on Sunday afternoon. After the match, Jesus Gonzalez, Vincent Gérard and Kim Ekdahl du Rietz gave us their thoughts.
Jesus Gonzalez (Paris Saint-Germain Handball assistant coach):
"It was very stressful! It was a very difficult game. We were good in attack and defence, but we were up against a great team. It was important to win! The race for first place is going to be very complicated, because everyone is winning! But today, we succeeded in imposing our will."
Vincent Gérard (Paris Saint-Germain Handball 'keeper):
"They're a very physical team... we were up against a powerful young side. They played a tough game, but we knew how to answer them because we also have strong players. The result was a game that was choppy at times. But we were in front for most of the match and I think it was a well deserved victory."
Kim Ekdahl du Rietz (Paris Saint-Germain Handball left-back):
"Personally, I love these matches! There was a very good atmosphere in the arena, especially when things started to get intense between the two teams. I love it! I love it! It's a very important win, because if we had lost today, it could have been complicated to clinch top spot, but for now, we're still hanging in there."
