How our internationals are faring

This week, several of our international players are in action for their respective national teams. Although most of the matches are yet to come, there has already been some exciting action!

Slovakia - Spain: 18-30
Qualified for the next Olympic Games after winning Euro 2020, Spain have turned their attention to qualifying for Euro 2022. Defeated in their first two matches, La Roja had to make up ground again Slovakia in Bratislava on Wednesday evening, Viran Morros and his teammates did exactly that, dominating the match from start to finish. They were already ahead at the break (30': 8-16) and they increased their lead in the second term. Special mention to Ferran Sole Sala who finished as the top scorer of the game with nine goals from twelve attempts. On Saturday, the Spaniards will host Egypt for a friendly match.

North Macedonia - Denmark: 33-29
On Thursday night, Denmark experienced the first bump in their qualifying campaign for the upcoming European Championships. Boasting a perfect record after strong victories on the first two matchdays against Switzerland and Finland, Denmark did not find it plain sailing against the North Macedonia of newly installed coach, Kiril Lazarov. In fact, Denmark were behind at the break (30': 17-13) and never managed to catch up. However, we can't blame our Parisians, Mikkel Hansen and Henrik Toft Hansen, who scored eleven and three goals respectively. The two-time world champions thus conceded top spot in Group 7 to their opponents on the day, but they will have the opportunity to take revenge when they run it back in Aalborg on Sunday afternoon.

Slovenia - Poland: 32-29
Kamil Syprzak had little more success with Poland. On Tuesday evening, our pivot and his partners travelled to Celje for their rescheduled Euro 2022 qualifying Matchday 1 clash with Slovenia. Although the match was tight for a long while (43': 22-21), the locals made the difference in the final 20 minutes and carved out a significant lead that they maintained through to the final buzzer. Despite Kamil's goal, the Poles conceded their first defeat of the group stage and now sit second, just behind the Slovenians. Their next match will see Kamil take on clubmate Luc steins as Poland face off against the Netherlands in their Matchday 2 clash in Wroclaw on Sunday afternoon.
