Group B results - Matchday 8

News

Paris Saint-Germain Handball moved closer to second place in EHF Champions League Group B thanks to their victory in Porto (39-30). Check out the other Matchday 8 results from the Parisians' group.

Kielce - Barcelona: 29-27
Kielce continued their almost flawless record! Beaten on the first day by the current bottom team (Bucharest), the Poles won for the seventh time in eight games this week, claiming a second win in as many weeks over reigning European champions Barcelona. A week after breaking the Catalans' unbeaten record at the Palau Blaugrana, Dylan Nahi and his team-mates got the job done again at home on Wednesday. The home side were trailing at the end of the first half (51': 24-27), but the Catalans' terrible end to the game, in which they didn't score a single goal in the last nine minutes, proved fatal. Kielce (Paris' future opponents) are alone at the top of the group, while Barcelona fall to third place.

Veszprém - Zaporozhye: 36-29
It is Veszprém who now sit in second place and are provisionally qualified for the quarterfinals). Although they were defeated in Ukraine a week earlier, the Hungarians took their revenge against Zaporozhye. This time, they did not falter and were already leading by five goals at the break (30': 18-15). In the second half, the home team continued on the same dynamic, in particular thanks to Gasper Marguc who was unstoppable. The Slovenian right-winger managed to score on all nine of his attempts (we should also note the eight out of nine of Viachaslau Bokhan for the Ukrainians). With this success, Veszprém have leapfrogged Barcelona into second, but are only one point ahead of the Spanish team and Les Rouge et Bleu. Zaporozhye remain sixth.

Dinamo Bucharest - Flensburg: 20-28
After a slow start, Flensburg finally got their season under way. The Germans just won their third game in a row, clinching a great victory in Bucharest. The first act was not so well controlled, and the two teams were back to back at the break (30': 18-18), but the second half was much better! Indeed, the visitors inflicted a 15-7 on their direct opponents in the second term and duly collected two precious points. This gave them some breathing space in the red zone (two points ahead of Porto). Despite their two wins in eight games, the Romanians are in last place.
