Group B results - Matchday 5

After a great battle, Paris Saint-Germain Handball once again tasted defeat in Barcelona (30-27) on Thursday evening. Here is a look at the other games from EHF Champions League Group B's Matchday 5.

Kielce - Porto: 39-33
Kielce have been in top form ever since their opening game against Dinamo Bucharest, and this week the Poles made it four wins in a row. Although Porto's Danish goalkeeper Sebastian Leth Frandsen often thwarted the home side's attacks, turning away 12 attempts, and Icelandic left-winger Sigvaldi Gudjonsson fired 10 from 10, it was not enough to stop Dylan Nahi and his teammates from imposing themselves. Kielce are now at the top of the group, alongside Barcelona and Veszprém, while the Portuguese side are fifth, four points off the top spot.

Veszprém - Flensburg: 28-23
Veszprém are also doing very well. In a venue where Paris and Barcelona have already fallen this season, the Hungarians claimed the scalp of Flensburg on Matchday 5. At the break, the hosts had already taken a comfortable lead (30': 14-8) against a team struggling early in this European campaign. The last 30 minutes did not change the situation: Rodrigo Corrales (13 saves) and his side won for the fourth time in five games to go level at the top with Barcelona and Kielce. The Germans, meanwhile, are bottom of the group with just one point.

Zaporozhye - Dinamo Bucharest: 28-27
As was the case at the Palau Blaugrana on Thursday night, the game between Zaporozhye and Dinamo Bucharest was very close. The Ukrainians kept pace for most of the match, but it was not until the last 20 minutes that they made the difference (40': 18-15). However, they were not yet safe and the Romanians came back in the very last moments (58': 27-27), thanks to a 7 from 8 by Valentin Marian Ghionea. However, after two saves by Gennadiy Komok in the final minute, Zaporozhye won and went two points clear of the drop zone, currently by Bucharest.
