All you need to know about PSG Handball - Saint-Raphaël

For the third match in a row in all competitions, Paris Saint-Germain Handball will be in action at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin as they play host to Saint-Raphaël in their Liqui MolyStarLigue Round 10 fixture.

The table
Les Rouge the Bleu have the opportunity to make it ten wins in a row in an unbelievable start to the league season! After winning their first nine matches, they have a five-point lead atop the league standings, Nantes and Aix their nearest pursuers.

Nonetheless, Saint-Raphaël are not far behind. They have made a good start ato the campaign and sit in fourth, notably thanks to strong performances like the draw they earned at powerhouse club Montpellier on the opening day of the season (29-29).

Two strong defences
While the capital club boasts the best attack in the Liqui Moly StarLigue, with 334 goals (261 for SRVHB), both sides have also been in fine defensive form. Here again, our team is the most successful, having conceded only 243 goals (thanks in particular to Vincent Gérard's 75 saves), while Saint-Raphaël are third with 244.

An historic meeting
Among the players who have marked the history of French handball, we can not forget the name of Raphaël Caucheteux. At Saint-Raphaël since the 2008-2009 season, the 36-year-old left-winger (and French international) is the Liqui Moly StarLigue' s all-time leading scorer with an incredible 2081 goals.

To counter this threat, Paris can turn to the two goalkeepers with the highest aggregate save tallies in the history of the competition. Vincent (who has signed with Saint-Raphaël for next season) leads the way with 3375 saves while our other keeper, Yann Genty, is second, having saved 3195 shots in his storied career.

The return of Xavier
This clash will be the occasion for Paris Saint-Germain Handball alumnus Xavier Barachet to return to his former stomping ground. The Saint-Raphaël right-back played for four years in the capital, winning three French Championship titles in the process. Fahrudin Melic could also have made a return to his old club, but the Montenegrin right-winger recently terminated his contract with SRVHB.

Head to head
Paris and Saint-Raphaël will be facing each other for the 28th time in the league. For the moment, our club dominate the fixture with 19 victories and only eight defeats. The last one was in May 2019, when the Parisians had already stitched up the league title.
