Tuchel: 'We are improving as a team'

News

On the eve of the Matchday 2 UEFA Champions League clash at home to Red Star Belgrade, at 18:55 CET on Wednesday 2 October at the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel spoke at the pre-match press conference:

FORM
"I think we are improving as a team every match. We won a lot of ball in the opposition half against Nice and that's important. Our pressing game is improving. I am very happy with this attitude. Against Nice, we started the match with great focus and intensity. We played a first 20 minutes of a really high standard. It's obvious to me that we have to play like that on Wednesday."

LIVERPOOL
"After the match, the official message in interviews is not necessarily the same as the one we say in the changing room amongst ourselves... We were not happy to lose that match, especially as we didn't play our best football. It was a big challenge, perhaps the biggest in Europe that night and it was only the first match of the competition. It's important not to exaggerate and to stay calm. We bounced back very well and I was very happy with our reaction. We need to keep going on Wednesday. Defeats are underestimated because we can learn a lot from a loss. Sometimes it can have a positive effect. The most important thing is how you bounce back and we have done that well."

NEYMAR JR
"He's not yet 100%, but almost. That's normal because he was out for a long time with injury. The World Cup was also very difficult for him and he didn't have an entire preseason to prepare for the new term. He has a good attitude, he comes to training with a smile and he is decisive in each and every match. Against Liverpool? It was a difficult game, but don't forget that he was also decisive in that match too. I am very happy with him. He will soon be at his very best and that's important for the team. He is very confident, committed to this project. We are all very happy with him."
