Thomas Tuchel: 'Take charge of the game'

News

The Paris Saint-Germain coach is looking for his side to be on the front foot in Sunday's Ligue 1 game against Reims.

THE SQUAD

"Neymar, Leo Paredes and Diallo are back, Bernat and Kehrer are still injured and there's a doubt overĀ Idrissa Gueye. He trained, but we don't want to take a risk. Layvin is suspended."

REIMS

"It's difficult to adapt to their style of play. It's up to us to take charge of the game, get the ball and close down space to avoid counter-attacks. They had a great season last season and were very well organised defensively. It's hard to create chances against them. They're going through a tougher time now and they played the qualifying rounds of the Europa League. It's always difficult to play at Reims, everyone knows that. Our challenge is to find solutions and a set-up that will enable us to play attacking football without getting caught out."

THE SYSTEM

"We've done some good things in training this week, and it had been a long time since we'd had the chance to all work together. We have worked hard, with a smile but with rigour. We can play in 4-4-2 tomorrow, but I'm still not sure. I'll decide tomorrow."

ICARDI

"He has an important role in the team, and we know a forward needs to score. Mauro is calm and keeps working, and I'm sure that it'll come back. It's tough on his confidence, but we can't do much about that. There are little periods like that. We just have to try and give him confidence and enable him to get chances. I know it'll come back."

THE TEAM

"It's easier when you've got almost a full squad. Kylian and Neymar open up space. We found solutions without them, but their return is of course good news. They're here to make the difference, and we're happy to have them playing together again."

VERRATTI

"Marco is an incredible player, his attitude is irreproachable. He gives everything on the pitch. He's a natural leader thanks to his mentality and his technical quality. We talk a lot about tactics before games, he behaves like a captain."

FLORENZI

"It's not easy to change city and club, but he's shown real tactical intelligence, everything's going well. He's a reliable guy, happy on the pitch, and works hard. He's settled into the squad perfectly ever since his first few minutes with us."
