Thomas Tuchel: 'Difficult to create space'

Reactions

Thomas Tuchel, Marquinhos and Thiago Silva dissected Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Rennes.

Thomas Tuchel (Paris Saint-Germain coach)
"It was difficult to create space, because Rennes got a lot of men behind the ball in their 5-3-2. They ran a lot and gave everything to be able to match us. We had trouble finding space between the lines and on the flanks. We opened the scoring and had the chance to get a second. We didn't kill the game off and conceded once and then again. That made things tougher. After that, we didn't manage to find a way through. We need to find solutions. It'll come little by little."

Marquinhos (Paris Saint-Germain defender)
"We know it's never easy to score a goal, especially away from home. We worked hard to do that. We should have been able to avoid conceding the first goal like that, especially just before half-time. We now have to keep working and stay calm. The season is long, there are a lot of points to take. We mustn't make the same mistakes. We're going to analyse the game and it'll serve us in the future. We're going to work to improve and do better in our next game."

Thiago Silva (Paris Saint-Germain defender)
"It was a difficult game, it's tough to talk about it. We opened the scoring and then dropped off a bit and we lacked concentration. It's a shame. It's difficult when you concede right at the end of the half and then concede again early in the second half. We weren't switched on. We're going to pick ourselves up, look ahead to the next game and forget everything that happened today. It's not the Paris Saint-Germain that we know. Rennes were solid and more clinical than us. We'll have to look at our mistakes to do better in the next game. It's a shame to lose already after just two games. I hope it'll be our last defeat of the season." Speaking to Canal+
