Thomas Tuchel: 'An intense match'

News

Thomas Tuchel (Paris Saint-Germain coach)
"It was an intense match. It's exactly what we need to improve. We have to analyse what we did well, what we did badly. We had difficulties in closing down the space on Monaco counter-attacks. The first 20 minutes were difficult. We controlled things better in the second half. We had good chances, but didn't manage to score a fourth. They got a third, a little bizarre it was too. The first half was a little too open, they're a top-quality team. You have to be careful not to lose the ball in dangerous areas. That's what we needed to progress."

Marco Verratti (Paris Saint-Germain midfielder)
"It's difficult to play 300 games for the same team in football nowadays. I'm happy to achieve that with Paris, it's my team. It's a shame we didn't end with a win, but the fans saw a good game and sometimes you need that. It was a match with a lot of rhythm, Monaco played well. We could have scored a fourth with those chances for Edinson and Kylian, but we accept the result. I passed the ball to Neymar for the first goal, but he's the one who did all the work to score. It's our job in midfield to give the forwards the ball."

Neymar Jr (Paris Saint-Germain forward)
"It was a very good game, a very good test for us. It wasn't our best performance, but we did play well. We created a lot of chances, I think we were better than our opponents and deserved to win. But that's football, not everything can be perfect all the time, but if we keep playing with that attitude, we'll have a great season."
