Thomas Tuchel: 'An excellent performance'

News

After their record 9-0 win over Guingamp, the delighted Parisians gave us their thoughts on the game.

Thomas Tuchel (Paris Saint-Germain coach)
"It's an excellent performance, particularly in the second half when we had a lot of chances. We scored a lot of goals, the forwards scored several times, we did well with our counter-attacks and had structure in our attacks to be able to accelerate our play. The injury to Marco [Verratti] is the negative point, it's serious. In comparison to the previous game against Guingamp, this one was very different, more focussed and with the hunger to score. The Coupe de la Ligue game was bizarre. There wasn't much in it. This evening, we showed our qualities and didn't give Guingamp a chance."

Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain forward)
"The main thing was to beat Guingamp tonight after they had knocked us out of the Coupe de la Ligue. It showed that the team wants to keep doing great things and that that defeat was just a lack of concentration. It's up to us to keep going like that. I'm very happy to have scored my 100th and even my 101st goal at the Parc des Princes. I am in the club's history and I want to keep scoring goals to help my team. The 100th goal was a one-two between Di Maria and Neymar, he put the ball on my head and I finished it off."

Gianluigi Buffon (Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper)
"In a game, it's normal to give your opponents one or two chances. And often when the scoreline is big, it finishes 9-1 or 9-2, the goalkeeper is angry. Nine-nil for me is perfect. It was a great show. We suffered with the loss to Guingamp in the cup last week and today we wanted to show that we are the strongest team in France. I'm not surprised our forwards score so many goals, given their qualities, it's normal. It's more when they don't score that I'm surprised."

Kylian Mbappé (Paris Saint-Germain forward)
"We're happy. We worked well in Qatar. We worked on building our understanding with each other, which we didn't have after coming back from the holidays. We managed to apply that today. Now, we have to keep going. We know we have quality, but that's not enough. We have to keep working, do what we do, because for the moment, we are in the thick of things. We must never take that sort of win lightly." Speaking to Canal+
