The Parisians win in style!

News

Paris Saint-Germain took another step towards their goal by beating Ajaccio, in matchday 35 of Ligue 1 (5-0). Here's a look back at the victory!

In this breathtaking final push, where no one is letting up, each step becomes decisive. There was no question of losing ground just a few steps from the finish line. A week after a victory at Troyes, Ajaccio, another lowly ranked team but just as confident, faced our Parisians. An opponent that Christophe Galtier and his men did not intend to underestimate. The Paris Saint-Germain coach started with a very attacking line-up, with a trio of Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi and Hugo Ekitike up front.

While every game has its story, the Rouge et Bleu were once again faced with a very compact block that was intent on tightening the lines as much as possible. In this context, it was important to create space where there was none. After a tight first quarter of an hour, the breakthrough came from Fabian Ruiz. A beautiful pass from Danilo found the Spanish midfielder, who cut inside and finished with a left-footed finish (1-0, 22'). It was subtle and unstoppable! A week after his goal at the Stade de l'Aube, the Spaniard confirmed his scoring talents in this spring period.

An appetizer before the feast. It is with the same appetite that Mbappé and his teammates continued to apply their game plan. The first half of the game was a mixture of combinations down the middle, using the flanks and trying to score from set-pieces, as Christophe Galtier's men varied their tactics to exert their dominance. Mbappé's excellent work was followed by Achraf Hakimi, who popped up on the right side of the pitch to push the ball into the back of the net after Sollacaro had saved his teammate's shot (2-0, 33').

The Parisians were able to take advantage of this favourable scenario to take the lead.  As soon as the second half came around, the match became more intense. In the second half, the ball came back to Ekitike, who set up Mbappé to score the winning goal (3-0, 47'). The goal was the first of his goals. Mbappé was the author of a beauty when he volleyed in a cross from Sergio Ramos that was deflected by Avinel (4-0, 55'). With these 25th and 26th goals this season in Ligue 1, our unstoppable goleador is now alone at the top of the scoring standings!

In this enjoyable match, the Parisians honoured their position in the table. With determination and intelligence, the Rouge et Bleu closed the door to avoid any defensive scares, while continuing to be aggressive at the other end of the pitch. The captain Marquinhos saw his cross deflected into the net by Youssouf for the fifth Parisian goal (5-0, 73'). It was the last of a number of goals in a game that ended with ten men for both teams after Hakimi and Thomas Mangani were sent off in an electric end to the game (80’).

Paris Saint-Germain were determined not to leave any stone unturned in the final stretch of the game, and so they picked up another win to increase their lead over their nearest rivals, Lens. A job well done.
