Match in numbers

Check out the key stats, facts and figures from Les Parisiens’ 2-1 win over Angers in the opening game of Matchday 32 of Ligue 1.

PARIS AT THEIR BEST IN THE WEST

After another win for Paris Saint-Germain in Angers, Les Rouge et Bleu are still yet to taste defeat there since 1975. Paris have lost none of their last 29 games against Angers in all competitions, boasting 22 wins and seven draws – their longest-ever unbeaten run against a single team. The capital club have also won each of their last 16 matches against SCO in all competitions, doing better only against Nantes in their history (17 consecutive wins between 2007 and 2019).

In fact, during the QSI era, the capital club have won 23 of their 26 Ligue 1 games against the bottom-placed team going into that particular matchday, winning each of their last eight such fixtures and falling to just two draws and one defeat otherwise.

MESSI AND MBAPPÉ, PERMANENT D(ANGERS)

Paris's strike partnership were scintillating at the Stade Raymond Kopa on Friday night, with Kylian Mbappé provisionally becoming the league's outright top scorer thanks to his brace, which was set up by Leo Messi, the division's top assist provider.

Mbappé has been involved in 26 goals during the 2022–23 Ligue 1 season, scoring 22 and assisting in four. This is also the fourth time that Paris's no. 7 has been involved in at least 25 goals in one top-flight season, following on from 2020–21 and 2021–22. No player has done better in this respect since Opta records began for the competition (2006–07).

Incidentally, Mbappé has made 214 goal contributions in Ligue 1 (157 goals and 57 assists), equalling the French top flight's combined goal and assist record, currently held by Dimitri Payet, since Opta records began.

Finally, Messi has scored 15 goals and provided 15 assists during the 2022–23 Ligue 1 campaign, thereby becoming the third player to reach these two milestones in a single Ligue 1 season, after Eden Hazard with Lille in 2011–12 (20 goals and 16 assists) and Mbappé with Paris in 2021–22 (28 goals and 17 assists).
