Paris get their smiles back

News

The key moments
Paris Saint-Germain enjoyed more than the pleasant early evening sun in Angers as they got back to winning ways.

At Stade Raymond Kopa, the pre-match attraction was Loïc Mbe Soh, given his top-flight debut at just 17, but after kick-off, Gianluigi Buffon's goal was in focus. The Italian made two fine saves - one from Flavien Tait's curling shot (10') and then at close-range from Stéphane Bahoken (16') - to frustrate the hosts. Paris were dominating territorially though, and after Edinson Cavani saw a goal ruled out (18'), 120 seconds later, Neymar's header - scored from a pass by Dani Alves, the third time the pair have teamed up for a goal this season - gave the visitors the initiative (0-1, 20'). Cavani, with a header that just went wide (38') and then in a one-on-one duel with Ludovic Butelle (40'), might have doubled the lead before the break.

The cushion came after it with Angel Di Maria heading in a Neymar cross from the left (0-2, 58'). Angers created opportunities, including a Baptiste Santamaria goal that was ruled out (75') and a shot over the crossbar from Tait (77'), and they eventually pulled one back. Captain Marquinhos was sent off (85') and Gigi saw Tait beat him to the rebound after he had parried the Angers man's spot-kick (1-2, 87'), but there was no denying Paris Saint-Germain a 28th win in 36 L1 games this season.

A Parisian in the match
Neymar Jr was wearing a bandana, but it didn't stop him scoring his first L1 header. He then produced the cross for Di Maria to score, making the game the sixth in which he has taken and made a goal in L1 this season.

The word: Century
Di Maria scored the 100th Parisian goal this season. The stats don't lie: the French champions have averaged three goals a game in the top flight this season, and have scored in every single match. They now have two matches left to try and beat their own record of 108 set last season.

Coming up
Next Saturday (kick-off 21:00CEST), the Parc des Princes will see its champions in action for the last time this season with Dijon. Still battling against relegation, the visitors were beaten 4-0 earlier in the campaign. It will be a Paris party with the league winners' trophy, the Hexagoal, being handed over.
