Nasser Al-Khelaïfi: 'This win was for the fans'

On Wednesday evening, Thomas Tuchel's side managed to battle to qualification for the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League, with an excellent victory over Borussia Dortmund (2-0).

After the match, the Paris Saint-Germain Chairman Nasser Al-Khelaïfi didn't hide his joy when speaking to PSGTV: "The team demonstrated the real Paris Saint-Germain, what we always expect of our players. Despite the context, I think that we put in an excellent performance. The players and the staff proved it, we are a big team! We will celebrate this evening, but it's not finished yet, our ambition is bigger than that. But this evening, I think that we have deserved to celebrate this match. It's a very good step after three years without qualifying for the quarter finals. This evening, we are there. Having a team in the quarter finals is good for everyone, for our confidence, for the press, for the players, for the country too. We are now looking forward to the draw for the quarter finals."

And although Les Parisiens were deprived of their fans within the Parc des Princes (match played behind closed doors), they were able to make the most of their incredible welcome, the constant chanting around the outside of the stadium and an excellent moment together after the final whistle. The Chairman didn't miss his chance to pay tribute to the club's supporters: "The Paris Saint-Germain supporters are the best in the world! We didn't have them in the stadium but we had them in our hearts. They showed a lot from outside the stadium. I want to thank them, this win is for them. They weren't in the stadium but they were with us."
