The Paris Saint-Germain captain gave his thoughts on the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 draw against Liverpool.
Marquinhos, Liverpool in the Last 16. What's your initial reaction?
"Liverpool have experience in this competition. We'll have to put in two great performances. It's the Champions League. And in the Champions League, you have to play the big clubs. If you want to win, you have to get through some great encounters. We're ready for that. We are determined to qualify during these two duels between two great clubs."
The team is currently enjoying a good spell...
"I think the team has grown in strength at just the right moment. Getting to our current level at this time of the season is very important. We are starting games well right now, the team spirit is clearly there too. That's our strength now, regardless of the competition. Even when there are changes in the team, there's the same attitude and the same intensity. That's our great strength. We showed during the play-offs that we're enjoying a good spell."
The fans will have a role to play too, won't they?
"We thank them for everything they do, because they are always behind us in the good times and the bad times. Once again, they'll be there and we'll feel that energy. I am sure they'll push us right to the last minute in the Parc during the first leg. We'll want to get a result at home, because teams that come here can't win, because we have our fans, who are our strength, because we're at home. It's going to be a great duel and we'll need a good atmosphere to give our all on the pitch and represent the team in the best possible way."
