A few days after securing first place in their group with a victory over Poland (2-0), Argentina faced Australia in the Round of 16 of the competition. With this victory, they have secured qualification for the next round where they will face the Netherlands on 9 December.
Leo Messi once again started the match as captain and played the entirety of the encounter. The Paris Saint-Germain forward made the difference once more, opening the scoring for his side on his 1,000th appearance of his professional career.
