International round-up

News

Ten players* from the Paris Saint-Germain first-team squad teamed up with their national squads during the last 10 days - we round up how they got on.

PRESNEL KIMPEMBE / KYLIAN MBAPPÉ - FRANCE

After losing 2-0 to Finland in a friendly last Wednesday - a game in which the Paris Saint-Germain duo did not feature - France earned their place in the UEFA Nations League Final Four with a 1-0 win over Portugal in Lisbon three days later before beating Sweden 4-2 at the Stade de France on Tuesday. Presnel Kimpembe played both of the latter games while Kylian Mbappé came off the bench and delivered an assist against Sweden as Les Bleus finished top of Group 3 with 16 points from six games.

DANILO PEREIRA - PORTUGAL

Portugal kicked off with a 7-0 win over Andorra in a friendly before losing to France. They then won 3-2 in Croatia on Tuesday to finish second to Les Bleus, three points behind. The Paris Saint-Germain number 15 came off the bench for the first game and started the two others before being substituted late on.

ALESSANDRO FLORENZI - ITALY

Rested for the 4-0 friendly win over Estonia last Wednesday, Florenzi captained his country to a 2-0 win over Poland in Reggio Emilia four days later. He led the Azzurri again on Wednesday as they beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-0 in Sarajevo to secure top spot in Nations League Group 1 and join France in the Final Four.

MARQUINHOS - BRAZIL

Marquinhos had two FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers on his plate. He celebrated his 50th appearance with the Seleção with a 1-0 win over Venezuela last Friday before helping them to a 2-0 victory against Uruguay in Montevideo four days later. The Paris number 5 played the full 90 minutes in both games, and the wins mean Brazil top the South American standings with a 100% record after four matches.

ANGEL DI MARIA / LEANDRO PAREDES - ARGENTINA

Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes also had two World Cup qualifiers. They started with a 1-1 draw against Paraguay on Thursday before beating Peru 2-0 in Lima five days later. Paredes played every minute of both games while Di Maria came off the bench in both. Second-placed Argentina are two points behind Brazil in the standings.

KEYLOR NAVAS - COSTA RICA

Costa Rica and Keylor Navas had two friendlies to negotiate. They drew 1-1 with Qatar in Austria last Friday before losing 2-1 to a Basque XI in Eibar three days later. The Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper captained his country in both games and played the full 90 minutes both times.

COLIN DAGBA - FRANCE U21

Colin Dagba had a pair of UEFA U21 EURO 2021 qualifiers to face. They qualified for the final tournament thanks to a 5-0 win over Liechtenstein in Vaduz and a 3-1 defeat of Switzerland in Caen. The victories mean Les Bleuets top their qualifying group ahead of the Swiss. The Paris Saint-Germain number 31 scored his first U21 goal against Liechtenstein, but was sent off against the Swiss.

MITCHEL BAKKER - NETHERLANDS U21

Mitchel Bakker was also involved in U21 EURO qualifying. The Jong Oranje had already clinched their final tournament place so the pressure was off as they beat Belarus 5-0, but then saw their 100% record ended with a 2-1 defeat in Portugal on Wednesday. Bakker provided an assist in 60 minutes on the pitch against Belarus and played the whole game against Portugal. The Dutch finish on top of the group, ahead of Portugal on goal difference.

*Initially called up by their countries, Thilo Kehrer (Germany), Idrissa Gueye (Senegal), Moise Kean (Italy) and Neymar Jr (Brazil) had to withdraw.
