News

2018 was a year full of excitement and emotion for Paris Saint-Germain fans. As the year draws to a close, take a look back at the matches that made their mark and left us waiting for more to come in 2019…

What a beginning!
Rennes - Paris Saint-Germain: 1-6
7 January 2018 - Coupe de France - Round of 64
Paris travelled to Rennes for their first match of 2018, entering into competition in the Coupe de France. Six goals scored by three different scorers… Di Maria, Neymar Jr and Mbappé each bagged a brace at Roahzon Park. The Parisians scored four goals in one half to make a more-than-auspicious beginning to 2018!

Paris Saint-Germain - Dijon: 8-0
17 January 2018 - Ligue 1 - Week 21
The year's first match at the Parc des Princes saw Paris give the fans a real treat! Faced with Dijon, Les Rouge et Bleu won 8-0, thanks notably to a quadruple from Neymar Jr. With 22 shots, 14 of which were on target, Paris hit hard in Burgundy to stretch their lead over second-placed Lyon to 11 points after 21 matches… with 65 goals to their name!

Cavani goes down in history!
Paris Saint-Germain - Montpellier: 4-0
27 January 2018 - Ligue 1 - Week 23
157 goals in 229 matches. On 27 January 2018, Edinson Cavani became the club's all-time top scorer, dethroning Zlatan Ibrahimovic. In the 11th minute of play, the Uruguayan converted a Rabiot assist to make sure his name went down in the club's history books. El Matador celebrated fittingly, in front of the Auteuil stand in a wonderful moment of communion with the fans that will remain etched in memories for years to come.

Paris double down in the Classique
Paris Saint-Germain - Marseille: 3-0
25 and 28 February 2018 - Ligue 1 (Week 27) and Coupe de France (quarter-finals)
With fate whipping up two Classiques in the space of three days, Olympique de Marseille headed to the capital for the first match of the double-header - a Week 27 Ligue 1 Conforama clash. Mbappé, Rolando (o.g.) and then Cavani gave the Parisians the win and continue an incredible unbeaten run against their arch-rivals. Three days later, it was the same score-line thanks to a double from Di Maria and yet another strike from Cavani. Classique!

Crowned again!
Paris Saint-Germain - Monaco: 7-1
15 April 2018 - Ligue 1 - Week 33
Symbolically, Paris claimed their new crown against reigning champs AS Monaco. Two weeks after beating the Monegasques 3-0 in the Coupe de la Ligue final, Paris were at it again as they claimed the French league title with a 7-1 win at the Parc des Princes. The goal-fest saw the capital club break the 100-goal mark for the season (103 at the final whistle) and claim a seventh national crown!

Les Herbiers - Paris Saint-Germain: 0-2
8 May 2018 - Coupe de France - Final
Against the minnows from the Vendée region in France's west, the Parisians claimed the 12th Coupe de France title in club history. At the Stade de France, Les Rouge et Bleu won 2-0 against a valiant Herbiers side thanks to goals from Lo Celso and Cavani (pen.). Thiago Silva raised the trophy alongside Les Herbiers' captain in a grand gesture of footballing good will.

Paris Saint-Germain - Caen: 3-0
12 August 2018 - Ligue 1 - Week 1
This was the first Ligue 1 Conforama outing for Paris under new coach Thomas Tuchel. A week after claiming the Trophée des Champions 4-0 over Monaco in Shenzhen, Les Rouge et Bleu kicked off their domestic league campaign with a 3-0 win over Caen at the Parc des Princes. Neymar Jr scored Paris' first goal of season 2018-19 after touching pre-match homage to World Cup winners Kylian Mbappé, Presnel Kimpembe and Alphonse Areola.

Paris Saint-Germain - Red Star Belgrade: 6-1

3 October 2018 - Champions League - Matchday 2
After a dramatic late loss to Liverpool in their Matchday 1 UEFA Champions League clash, Paris Saint-Germain played host to Belgrade at the Parc des Princes. Les Rouge et Bleu claimed their first win of the European season, and did so in style! Six goals, three of which came from Neymar Jr, two sensational free-kicks… it was a second career hat-trick in the UEFA Champions League for the Brazilian superstar. Paris had their first points and were back on track.

Paris Saint-Germain - Lyon: 5-0

7 October 2018 - Ligue 1 - Week 9
It was a clash of European representatives as Paris Saint-Germain and OL clashed at the PDPD on 7 October. With ten points separating them on the Ligue 1 Conforama table, Paris took the opportunity to emphasis their lead, pulling out a stunning performance and triumph 5-0. Kylian Mbappé scored his first Ligue 1 Conforama quadruple in the space of just 13 minutes - a huge performance by the Paris-region prodigy, who became the youngest player (19 years and 9 months) to score four goals in a Ligue 1 match in the last 45 years. He also scored his quadruple faster than anyone else had in the last 45 years.

Marseille - Paris Saint-Germain: 0-2
28 October 2018 - Ligue 1 - Week 11
After claiming victory at the Vélodrome on 28 October, Paris Saint-Germain stretched their incredible unbeaten run against OM to 18 matches, goals from Mbappé and Draxler ensuring continued - and upgraded - bragging rights against the capital club's arch-rivals.

A 57-year-old record falls!
Paris Saint-Germain - Lille: 2-1
2 November 2018 - Ligue 1 - Week 12
No other European side has ever gotten off to such a start! By beating Lille 2-1 at the Parc des Princes, Les Rouge et Bleu claimed a 12th-straight win since the beginning of the season, beating Tottenham's run of 11 back 1961! The winning streak ended up lasting 14 matches - an incredible achievement by Thomas Tuchel's Paris Saint-Germain.

Paris Saint-Germain - Liverpool

28 November 2018 - Champions League - Matchday 5
It was a must-win occasion for the Parisians as Liverpool came calling at the Parc des Princes on UEFA Champions League Matchday 5. After scoring away to Napoli a few weeks earlier, Juan Bernat was at it again to open the scoring against the Reds. Neymar Jr put Paris two goals to the good a few moments later and Paris held on to claim the win in an electric atmosphere before ending the group stage victoriously in Belgrade. Paris finished top of their group and were drawn to face Manchester United in the last 26. Bring it on!
