Gueye: 'I learned a lot there'

News

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Idrissa Gueye looked ahead to Friday's match at home to his former club Lille:

Gana, Paris Saint-Germain takes on Lille on Friday. It must be a special match for you...
"We'll see how I feel, but it's true that Lille means a lot to me. It was my first professional club. I joined the LOSC after Diambars. This club gave me the chance to play in Ligue 1 and sign my first professional contract. I learned a lot there. As well as taking my first steps in the professional world, I won my first trophies with Lille. It was an important time in my career that I will never forget. I always remain attached to this club and this city, also because my daughter was born there. So I often go back there. I also kept a lot of friends there, and that's very important to me."

There is still one player at Lille that you used to play with...
"Adama Soumaoro! He is my 'little bro' and I am still in contact with him. When I arrived in Lille, we were together in the reserve team. We then joined the first team at the same time. We have a good relationship. He was the first-choice player in the last match in Lille, he is the captain of the team. He has often been injured and has not played much lately, but he is coming back well."

How is the team approaching the next week with Lille, Real Madrid and Monaco?
"Everyone knows that we can beat any team. We have a great team with great players, so we don't question our ability. We always try to do everything to prepare ourselves well, and to win every game. We started the season well and we hope to continue like this."
