Bitshiabu's historic debut for Paris

News

By coming off the bench on Sunday night to take part in the Parisians' fine 3-0 win over Feignies Aulnoye, the young academy graduate has also gone down in Paris Saint-Germain history.

By coming on to replace Presnel Kimpembe in the 75th minute against Feignies Aulnoye, the young Parisian defender earnt himself a record! At 16 years, 7 months and 3 days old, the PSG academy product becomes the youngest-ever player to feature for Les Rouge et Bleu in a competitive fixture.

It was a promising debut for one of the academy's hottest prospects, and it didn't escape the attention of Didier Domi, the former PSG academy graduate who made his debut in 1995, aged 16, and is now the head technical advisor at Les Rouge et Bleu's academy in Qatar: "I'm not surprised by his debut. I'd already seen El Chadaille play at the Al Kass International Cup in Qatar, and he was already physically impressive then. He was a defender who caught your attention and was always being moved up an age category."

Domi will never forget his first game in 1995 against Lyon in the Coupe de la Ligue: "I was very happy to be in the squad, first of all, with stars like David Ginola and Valdo. When I came on, my heart was racing. The Parc des Princes seemed huge and so different to the Camp des Loges."

26 years later, El Chadaille Bitshiabu has now surpassed Domi, who is hoping for a bright future for the young centre-back with Les Rouge et Bleu: "I hope that he manages his career well and continues to improve and learn at Paris Saint-Germain. He has everything he needs to succeed at Paris because, on top of his physical attributes, he already has great vision for such a young player. He's a PSG academy graduate, and he could become a role model for the academy's young players, which is important for the club's identity, just like Presnel Kimpembe, who is already a figure and an inspiration for all the young players dreaming of playing for the capital club."

BITSHIABU'S PLACE IN THE HISTORY BOOKS

The previous record was set by Kingsley Coman, who first came onto the pitch away to Sochaux over eight years ago on 17th February 2013.

Bitshiabu also becomes the fifth player younger than 17 to play for Paris, joining Kingsley Coman, Didier Domi, Nicolas Anelka and Batho Ogbeche, who remains the youngest goalscorer in the capital club's history, having scored in a league game against Nantes on 25th November 2001 at 17 years, 1 month and 24 days old.
