Paris Saint-Germain Academy Japan opens its third football school in Yokohama

News

Inaugurated in 2022 to coincide with the Paris Saint-Germain professional team's tour of Japan, the PSG Academy Japan now welcomes around a hundred young players aged between 4 and 18, divided between two academies, one in Shinagawa, a district of Tokyo, and the other in Tokorozawa City in Saitama.

As part of its expansion, the PSG Academy Japan will open a 3rd branch in June 2024 in Yokohama, a port city to the south of Tokyo, within the KPI Park.

The aim of these Academies is to offer a unique Paris Saint-Germain training experience to as many young Japanese players as possible, thanks to high-quality facilities, coaches trained by the club who work under the supervision of the PSG Technical Department, and a unique training methodology developed in Paris.

These Academies are a symbol of the club's commitment to education, and aim to pass on our values of excellence, sharing, respect and empowerment to local young people, while offering them a fun way to learn about French culture.

This fits in perfectly with the vision of KPI Park, which ‘aims to build bridges between the local community of Yokohama and the world’ by supporting young athletes in their development so that they can ‘spread their wings on the world stage’.
Daigo Kobayashi, a former player in the Japanese national team and Technical Director of the PSG Academy Japan, will be in charge of supervising the project in Yokohama and will be out on the pitch every day coaching the young talent joining the Academy.

To date, Paris Saint-Germain has almost 200 Academies in 21 countries, and more than 45,000 players train under the red and blue colours.
