Paris to travel to Strasbourg in the round of 16
The capital club, four-time defending champions and owners of the most titles in the competition's history (seven wins, in 1995, 1998, 2008, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017) will be up against Ligue 1 Conforama's currently 18th-ranked side, who won the competition in 1997 and 2005 and who knocked AS Saint-Etienne out in the round of 32 (1-1, 5-4 on pens.). The two sides will have played each other just a few days before, in their Ligue 1 Conforama Week 16 clash at 17:00 on Saturday, 2 December, also in Alsace. They will then face off once again in the league in mid-February, playing their Week 26 fixture at the Parc des Princes.
"We're aware of the fact that playing away from home is always very tough," explained Maxwell, Paris Saint-Germain's sporting coordinator, who was present in Bordeaux for the round of 16 draw. "It's always better to play at home, but we're delighted to be playing in the Coupe de la Ligue once again. We're aware of how important it is to win titles, so we'll give our all in this competition, as we do in all the others. We play to win in all of them. We have fortunate enough to win the last four editions of the Coupe de la Ligue, and we'll do all we can to give another one to our fans."
