Nasser Al-Khelaïfi: 'Disappointed with the result'

Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Unai Emery, Marquinhos, Julian Draxler and Adrien Rabiot gave us their thoughts on Paris' 3-1 defeat at Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Nasser Al-Khelaïfi (Paris Saint-Germain CEO and Chairman)
"We didn't play in the first half. We weren't on the pitch. I'm very disappointed with the result and the quality of the play in the first half. It was better in the second, but not enough to win or, at the very least, get a draw. The aim was to win the match. We have a great team and great players. We didn't come here to lose 3-1. I hope this defeat will help the team in the Champions League. It's very important to wake up now. It's not too late. We're top of the group, but it wasn't our aim to lose 3-1 at Bayern. The draw? For me, I'm very optimistic about the future. We didn't give everything to win the game. We're top of the group. There are some big clubs who'll finish second. If we're ready, we can play against any big club. The most important thing is to prepare ourselves better and think about this lesson." Speaking to beIN SPORTS 1

Unai Emery (Paris Saint-Germain coach)
"We're not happy to lose the game today, but on the pitch, the team didn't deserve to lose. They created chances in the first half, there were two clear-cut opportunities. We gave them two chances, and they scored two goals. At the break, I was calm, and I told the players to maintain the rhythm and that we had to create a few more chances. We were good. We needed to be more compact at the back. I wasn't worried. We said that we had to improve collectively, but that the team was well positioned and that we could continue improving and that we had to stay calm. Today, the main aim was to win. Even though we didn't do that, we still managed to stay top of the group."

Marquinhos (Paris Saint-Germain defender)
"The team showed maturity, even in difficult and painful times. We managed to stay focussed right to the end. We achieved our goal, despite the manner in which we did it. We faced a team that was very motivated to take first place. We wanted that too, we showed the desire. It was a very difficult match, which was decided by the small details. We conceded two goals in the first half without finishing off our chances. We came out better in the second, and the goal gave us a bit of strength back. This evening, we have to highlight the positive things and bear in mind the work we have done in this group stage. We still have a lot of work for the rest of the season."

Julian Draxler (Paris Saint-Germain midfielder)
"Bayern did good work. It wasn't so bad, but we have to do better than that. You saw that in the second half. To get a good result here, you have to play 90 minutes. Today, we only played 45. The aim was to finish top of the group. We're not happy with the result, but the main aim was achieved. At half-time, we spoke about what we could improve tactically. It was better after that. We're a bit sad about the result, but we're learning ahead of the next round. For the Last 16, all the teams will be good. We're confident. We can raise our game to the level of any team." Speaking to beIN SPORTS 1

Adrien Rabiot (Paris Saint-Germain midfielder)
"We're were too individualist, I think. We didn't play enough as a team. The few times we played the ball around, we were dangerous, we created chances. We would have scored more, but we weren't clinical. From the moment you count too much on individuals, you can't do it. We have a team with good players and we play well together. Against teams like that, that's how you have to play. When you try to go it alone, it doesn't work. That will serve as a lesson for the future. We're top of the group, so we're happy. We would have liked a better performance here. The main aim has been achieved and we'll see for the next round. There's work to do because we have to be a lot better in these kinds of matches. It's a good lesson. We also did some good things. As soon as we link up together, we can do it. We have to think about that." Speaking to beIN SPORTS 1
