After a prestigious victory over Monaco at the Parc des Princes, the capital club was crowned French champions on Sunday. The victory over the defending champions means Paris won back the title they won for four years between 2013 and 2016. It is Paris Saint-Germain’s seventh triumph after 1986, 1994, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, and the club’s 36th trophy since its creation 48 years ago!
Since the start of the 2013-14 season, Les Rouge et Bleu have won 17 of the 19 domestic trophies on offer (5 Ligue 1 championships, 3 Coupes de France, 5 Coupes de la Ligue, 5 Trophées des Champions)! Winners of the Trophée des Champions and the Coupe de la Ligue in 2017-18, Paris Saint-Germain have now completed a third domestic treble (after 2013-14 and 2016-17).
The aim now for Unai Emery and his men is to lift a 12th Coupe de France in Paris Saint-Germain’s history after 1982, 1983, 1993, 1995, 1998, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2015, 2016 and 2017, and complete a third quadruple (after 2014-15 and 2015-16). To do that, Thiago Silva and Co. Need to overcome Caen in Wednesday’s final at the Stade Michel d’Ornano.
