Preview: PSG Handball – Chambéry

On Sunday afternoon, Paris Saint-Germain Handball take on Chambéry at Le Phare. Both sides will be out to punch their ticket for the Coupe de France final at the AccorHotels Arena.

European representatives
As was the case against Nantes on Thursday, Paris Saint-Germain Handball will be up against one of France's European representatives. The Savoyard club are having an excellent campaign in the Coupe EHF, with a quarter-final against German side Göppingen in the offing. Earlier in the competition, they got past Lezion and then Ttabanya in the play-offs before coming second in their group behind Granollers.

Chambéry's Coupe de France run
Just like Paris Saint-Germain Handball, Chambéry got the better of a Lidl StarLigue side on their way to the semis. The Black and Yellows faced off against Ivry in the round of 16, where strong starts to each half helped them to a comfortable win (30-34). Yann Genty and his teammates also eliminated Besançon, and then Vernon in the last round.

Melic the hitman
Chambéry's number one weapon is no stranger to fans of the capital club, where he spent several seasons in Rouge et Bleu: Montengrin right-winger Fahrudin Melic, who has been in sparkling form since the season began. Even when his side were struggling early in the season, Mela always stood out in front of goal.IN the Lidl StarLigue, he has 96 goals from 15 appearances and is his club's top scorer.

Return to Le Phare
At the end of October, Zvonimir Serdarusic's players made the trip to the Savoy Region in France's south-east, getting the better of the match-up and inflicting a sixth-straight league defeat on their direct rivals. Paris' cutting edge made the difference, with Nikola Karabatic and Uwe Gensheimer both shooting at 100%, with eight and nine goals respectively.
