Jesus Gonzalez, future assistant coach of Paris
Jesus Gonzalez is currently the head coach of BM Logrono La Rioja; a position he has held for the past ten years. He took the club to second place in the Liga ASOBAL, the Spanish first division, on three occasions (2014, 2015, 2016) and to the Final Four of the EHF Cup two years in a row (2010, 2011).
These performances saw the man nicknamed 'Jota' named Spanish coach of the Year in 2009-10 and 2012-13.
Before taking over at La Rioja, Jesus Gonzalez enjoyed much success coaching in the youth ranks, winning six national championships with the BM Valladolid youth teams.
At the end of the 2017-18 season, the 45-year-old tactician will move to the French capital where he will team up with compatriot Raul Gonzalez, whose arrival at Paris Saint-Germain Handball was confirmed last November.
"Jesus Gonzalez will form a very talented and successful partnership with Raul," explained Jean-Claude Blanc, Paris Saint-Germain General Manager. "Jesus Gonzalez is a very experienced coach. He has been rewarded for the quality of his work and has also won numerous trophies in both professional handball and in youth handball. His presence at the Club will also allow us to further strengthen the links between our first team and our youth academy, which has produced a number of talented players in recent years."
