Pre-season in Brittany for the Women's Team
After arriving on Sunday, the Parisians have had a week of intense pre-season training. Jogging at dawn has been the Rouge-et-Bleu squad's start to the day followed by two training sessions in late morning and in the afternoon. Patrice Lair and his staff have set up a number of different areas to be worked on as well as work with the ball and tactical exercises. "Pre-season is difficult, it's true," Laura Georges said. "We have three training sessions a day, including a jog at seven in the morning. We're looking forward to playing our first game."
The France international and her team-mates are going to be able to get back to playing on Saturday with their friendly against second-tier Brest. It's a game which will allow them a chance to guage their progress three weeks before the start of the season. "We really want to play this game," said Spanish midfielder Vero Boquete. "We have worked hard physically and we're looking forward to getting back into competition to test ourselves, to see where the team is at. We above all want to finish our pre-season camp well this week. There will be supporters there, it's good to see they follow women's football and wear our shirts. That's always nice."
Pitchside and wearing Paris Saint-Germain shirts bearing the names 'Paredes' and 'Vero', Emmanuel and Alicia came especially to Brittany to follow their team. "I arrived today to see training and the match tomorrow," said the young woman. "The recruitment has been good and we're looking forward to seeing the 2017-18 version of the team play. It's really interesting to see how the girls prepare for the season and we're hoping for a win on Saturday, of course."
